Breast Reduction

Women with exceptionally large, heavy breasts often benefit from breast reduction surgery.  Excess weight of the breasts can cause back pain, neck pain, and other bothersome conditions like skin rashes or irritation from the bra strap pressing into the skin.

Breast reduction procedures

In a traditional breast reduction, excess breast tissue is removed through an incision around the areola that extends down toward the lower crease of the breasts. Liposuction may be used to remove excess tissue and sculpt the breast shape.  In many cases, a breast lift may be recommended to bring the breasts to an attractive position.

After breast reduction

Recovery may involve some bruising, swelling, and discomfort.  Pain medications can be prescribed by Dr. Frenzel to provide a more comfortable recovery experience.  After healing is complete, patients often report a feeling of relief, as physical activity becomes easier and back/neck pain is usually resolved. Another benefit patients report is that their appearance now resembles a more ‘normal’ female form.
