Chemical peels are an effective skin rejuvenation treatment for fine wrinkles, blemishes, sun damage, and uneven pigmentation. BodEvolve now offers chemical peels in different formulations to meet the skin renewal needs of every patient.
Chemical Peel Procedures
Layers of dead cells are exfoliated and replaced by healthier cells, allowing your skin’s natural clarity and tightness to resurface. The first step is choosing the appropriate formulation. There are deep peels and light peels; what is best for you will depend on your skin. Some of the most common formulas include the following:
- TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid)
- Glycolic acid
- Phenol
- Alpha-hydroxy acid
- Pyruvic acid
- Jessner’s solution
The procedure begins with gentle skin cleansing, usually with alcohol followed by acetone. Using a cotton applicator, we apply the solution to your skin in a uniform manner and allow it to penetrate for a specified period of time. The initial application may sting, but you should adjust to it quickly.
After Your Chemical Peel
Chemical peels facilitate removal of the outermost damaged layer of skin, revealing smoother skin, creating a glowing complexion, and minimizing the appearance of fine lines. Patients will experience some flaking, crusting, and redness after the peel. It usually requires about one week for new skin to emerge. With some peels, makeup can be applied almost right away. Once healing is complete, you’ll exhibit a fresh glowing complexion and fewer blemishes.
