CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting MachineHow Does BodEvolve Use CoolSculpting?

Developed at Harvard University, CoolSculpting is the most effective FDA-cleared non-surgical fat reduction technique sweeping the nation. This original self-care method uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath your skin in those trouble areas. We all carry a finite amount of fat cells, but CoolSculpting targets and destroys them, not allowing them to return. Your other skin cells in the area will be left unharmed as CoolSculpting specifically targets fat cells. This procedure is completely non-invasive so that means no knives, needles, anesthesia, or scars.

The FDA has given clearance for providers to treat nine different areas of the body on men and women: visible fat bulges under the chin and the jawline, abdomen and flank, thigh, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and upper arm. This procedure is designed to be an option when the diet and exercise just aren’t working. Treatment time will vary but can be as little as 35 minutes. Since there is no down-time associated with CoolSculpting, patients are free to go about their day after the appointment.

Secrets to Youthful, Tight Skin

Many of our medspa patients discuss their desire for youthful skin.  From aging to gravity, lines to wrinkles, and everything in between, there are endless factors that affect your skin on a daily basis.  Luckily, we have some simple solutions to keep your skin fresh and beautiful.

First, drink plenty of water.  Water can do incredible things for your entire body, especially for your skin.  Stay hydrated.  Water evaporates from the skin, which means it has to be constant replenished.  When you drink water and skin the soda, you will skin will stay firm and moisturized.  Skip water and you’ll end up with dry skin that eventually will start to sag.

Other drinks you should learn to love—green tea and white tea.  Green tea is best known for its antioxidants.  But this secret to youthful skin isn’t just used preventatively.  If you suffer from sun damage, there’s still hope.  Green tea reverses sun damage to your skin.  There is a specific antioxidant that has an amazing anti-aging effect.  Catechin prevents age spots and moles as well as delays wrinkles.

Drink green tea twice a day for about six months and you’ll definitely notice a difference in your skin elasticity.  White tea is a natural anti-aging remedy.  It prevents the breakdown of collagen and thus, prevents wrinkles.  It’s amazing what a drink can do for our bodies.  They don’t just keep us skinny.  The properties in green tea transform your skin! You can’t beat that.

Next secret—eat carrots, cooked tomatoes, and red meat.  These foods contain antioxidants, vitamins, and hormones to protect your skin from wrinkles and sun damage and restore damaged collagen. Finally, use honey to wash your face.  Honey is full of antioxidants that keep your skin wrinkle-free and moisturizes your skin.

Sometimes, you can try everything trick, tip, and secret under the sun to no avail.  If you’ve tried all these secrets and nothing seems to be working, consider the benefits of our skin rejuvenation procedures.  With these non-surgical procedures, you can have youthful skin in a matter of minutes.  Microdermabrasion is a treatment for the face and body that exfoliates your skin and uncovered rejuvenated skin with no pain!

A chemical peel is another skin rejuvenation treatment.  This procedure removes wrinkles, sun damage, and blemishes, allowing your skin’s natural tightness to resurface.

Benefits of the Venus Concept Freeze Treatment

The Venus Concept Freeze is available for patients looking to improve their aesthetics without the demand for invasive treatment.  This technology is advanced, offering patients skin tightening, cellulite reducing, and circumferential fat reducing solutions.

With so much to offer, the Venus treatment is the perfect solution for those looking for skin improvements without the need for surgical procedures.  Venus Concept Freeze are offered by Advanced Cosmetic Surgery to deliver excellent clinical results that are comfortable and safe for patients.

Patients looking into the Venus Freeze can expect a pain-free experience that do not require any cooling agents or numbing cream.  With incredible precision and speed, this treatment can be completed within a lunch break.

Venus Concept Freeze has the power of multi polar radio frequency and the pulsed magnetic fields necessary to create MP2.  Unique in its combination, these two agents together have the ability to penetrate deeply, quickly, safely, and comfortably into the skin.  The result of the Venus treatment is tighter skin and a significant reduction in cellulite.

The Venus Freeze is not only increasing in popularity in America, but is sold in over 40 countries.  This treatment sets the standard for pain free treatments.  The FDA has cleared Freeze for facial wrinkles and rhytides.  In addition, Health Canada has cleared the treatment for temporary reduction of cellulite and skin tightening.

There are many benefits to choosing the Venus Concept Freeze.  In addition to tightening the skin and smoothing cellulite, patients can reduce focal fat, diminish wrinkles, and lessen stretch mark visibility.  Freeze allows patients to transform their body without invasive surgery.  Features of the Venus Concept include comfort, short treatments, no downtime, safe for all skin types, very low risks of burns, bruises, or blisters, scientifically proven technology, and blended technology for maximum results.

The Venus treatment is truly an anti-aging solution.  In addition to skin repairs, this technology also prevents.  RF and PEMF are complementary to keep skin healthy and young.  The repair technology works on damaged and aged tissue with substantial collagen fragmentation and decreased elasticity.  Additionally, preventative technology works on healthy tissue to increase vascularity, tissue oxygenation, and nutrient supply to support the functionality of healthy skin cells.  The result of PEMF preventative technology is a slow down of the aging process of skin tissue.

Like any other procedure and treatment done to the body, maintenance is crucial.  The aging process can be slowed down, but it will never come to a complete stop.  As the skin ages it is necessary to continue treatments.  This slows down the aging process and keeps the skin tight.  To achieve maximum results, it is recommended that patients have Venus Concept Freeze treatments once each season, about every three to four months.

If, however, patients would like to increase the frequency of treatments, it is completely safe.  And, the results will be amplified.

The Best Exercise Equipment for Legs

Working out on leg day is both excruciating and exhilarating.  With a variety of options using free weights, machines, and dumbbells, you can achieve impressive results.  Here are some of the best ways to maximize your leg workout.

When working out, it is important to have a basic understanding of the human body.  Legs have a lot of different muscle groups that need attention.  Quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, thighs, and calves make up the human legs.  In addition to these basic muscle groups there are subgroups that comprise the quads, glues, hamstrings, thighs, and calves.

Knowing they dynamic and relationship between the different muscle groups allows you to find a workout routine that maximizes your workout intensity and properly exercise each muscle group.

One of the best exercise machines available for a quality leg workout is the Mr. Smith system.  This machine has one advantage over other leg machines that makes it the leader of its class—versatility.  Instead of giving you one repetitive motion, Mr. Smith offers dynamics to perform numerous exercises.  Allowing you to complete your squats and lunges, you get more out of your machine.

Squats are the first exercise we will focus on.  Squats are designed to work multiple joints, focusing on the quadriceps when doing front squats and glutes when focusing on back squats.  In addition, lunges are designed to work the glutes.  When completing small steps, you feel more intensity in your quads, while a bigger steps focuses more on your glutes.

The next best leg machine is the leg press.  This machine has earned its bragging rights.  With age, experience, and a good reputation, the leg press gives your entire leg a solid workout.  This machine is great for those suffering from back pain.  While you can work your entire leg on the leg press, leg placement will determine which muscle groups receive the most attention.  When you place your feet high on the plate, your glutes and hamstrings receive the most intensity, whereas placing your feet lower on the plate targets your quads.  In addition, when your feet are further apart, your adductors receive the most burn and when your feet are closer together, your quads receive the most intensity.

The final machines for targeting your legs are isolation machines.  Focus on each muscle group in your leg.  There are machines at the gym you can use, but don’t forget that the human body possesses the ability to work out on its own.  Use resistance bands and your body for squats, leg extensions, calf raises, and other leg exercises.

Make sure that the machines you use are appropriate for the muscle groups you are targeting.  If not, find free weights and other methods of exercising.  You should also check to see if any machines are harmful to your body.  If you have any injuries, check with a doctor before using a machine.  Always ask your doctor before beginning a new workout routine.

Liposuction Procedures from Advanced Cosmetic Surgery

Advanced Cosmetic Surgery is led by Dr. Frenzel, a board certified cosmetic surgeon, located in Dallas-Fort Worth.  In addition to being fellowship trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, he is fully accredited in facial and body cosmetic surgery.

Among the many cosmetic procedures, liposuction and body-jet water liposuction are available for individuals who have gained excessively and lost the weight, but still have bulges, skin laxity, or stretch marks.  It is also available for those who are within the normal weight range, but have stubborn bulges that affect their overall proportion, individuals who are slightly obese and need an added incentive to lose, and those who have disproportionate deposits of fat that haven’t come off with diet and exercising.

If you are interested in the liposuction procedure, schedule a consultation with Dr. Frenzel.  During your meeting, feel free to voice any concerns, ask and questions, and hear from him regarding the procedure and recovery.  Dr. Frenzel is highly trained and has completed hundreds of liposuction procedures, including standard liposuction, “Vaser or Ultrasound” liposuction, and Laser liposuction.

To complete liposuction, it’s important that your doctor has not only the proper education and training, but that he has experience.  Dr. Frenzel has everything you need in a professional cosmetic surgeon.  During your consultation, he will tell you how liposuction works, the various methods performed at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery, and what happens after liposuction.

Liposuction, commonly called lipo, eradicates fat deposits in body areas that have not responded to diet and exercise.  Through the use of a tiny tube—a microannula, the fat deposits are removed.  The result is a sculpted and contoured body.

In everyone, there are a certain number of fat cells that develop until puberty and then remain the same.  Gaining weight causes those fat cells to expand, just as losing weight causes them to shrink.  Typically, people have specific areas that have extra fat cells, which causes an imbalance in the proportioning of the body.

Whereas some people become too thin is certain areas of the face and body in an effort to lose weight where fat cells are bulging, liposuction is another alternative to equally proportioning the body.  Men often experience problem bulges in their flanks, chest, and abdomen, while women struggle with problem bulges in their abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

One of the main benefits of liposuction is its ability to target problem sites for equal distribution of fat cells.  However, it’s crucial that people understand that liposuction isn’t a free pass from weight gain.  You still have to be conscious of weight gain by regular exercising and muscle tone.

Certain fat cells stubbornly resist exercise.  And that is where liposuction is useful.  After the procedure, Dr. Frenzel advises plenty of rest and no strenuous activity.  Additionally, after the procedure, you should wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and ensure results.  Within the two to three days, swelling and bruising should be expected.

Predicted Cosmetic Surgery Trends for 2011

2011 cosmetic surgery predictionsCosmetic plastic surgeons from around the country weighed in on upcoming trends in cosmetic surgery, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) put together a list of  2011 cosmetic surgery predictions based on the surgeons’ feedback.

Facelifts, injectables, and body contouring are three of the procedures where they are predicting growth.

As the economy improves, the demand for facelift surgery will increase, as those who have been putting off the surgery may be more likely to get it in 2011, according to the society.

Already the most popular non-surgical procedure according to ASAPS’s 2009 statistics, injectables (such as Botox, Juvederm and Restylane) will continue to grow in popularity as they evolve and new products become available on the market.

Body contouring procedures will also be on the rise as more obese people may turn to weight loss surgery given the health dangers of obesity. That will lead to an increase in body contouring cosmetic procedures to tighten and remove excess skin after dramatic weight loss.

The society also predicts that more patients will be seeking “posterior body lifts, buttock lifts and surgical and nonsurgical buttock augmentations to shape and augment their buttocks” thanks in part to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Beyonce who have made it a “must-have accessory.”

The society sees change ahead in fat reduction techniques. While liposuction will remain the standard in surgical fat reduction, new non-surgical techniques will continue to be developed, including freezing, zapping and lasering fat, as possible alternatives to surgery.

Unfortunately, the society also sees consumers looking for bargains on cosmetic procedures. Procedures, such as “discount injectables” bought overseas and cosmetic procedures performed by untrained practitioners will lead to an increase in cosmetic surgery “horror” stories. Always research your cosmetic surgeon to ensure he or she is well-trained in cosmetic surgery.

Tips to Keep You Healthy This Christmas

Staying in shape during the holidays is basically an oxymoron.  The more you want to keep your figure, the more treats you find in the break room.  We understand the temptation, but we also know exactly how to fight it—here are three tips to keep you healthy this Christmas.

The best trick to keep you healthy this season is to keep some healthy snacks with you.  There is something about not having options that makes you feel like you have to indulge in that delicious donut in the morning.  But, when you bring a healthy breakfast bar or make a smoothie in the morning, all of the sudden, the urge to indulge decreases.

Keep snacks with you at work, in your purse, and on the go so you don’t feel forced into bad eating habits.  Making this small change can transform your diet.  This helps you combat the candy dish and stay on track.

The next tip to keep you healthy this Christmas is to exercise.  During the holiday season, it can be difficult to find the time to exercise.  With the added holiday parties and events as well as the extra cleaning and shopping to prepare for Christmas day, there never seems to be enough minutes in the day.  And, for some reason, exercising is always the first thing to get removed from the to-do list.

Make exercising a priority.  Find 30 minutes each day to walk with weights, climb stairs, and stay active.  And be creative; find ways to multitask—clean the house, walk instead of drive, involve your family and make new traditions that keep everyone active and moving.  There are so many ways to incorporate exercises into your daily routine.

The main goal is to change your lifestyle.  There will always be distractions and reasons to keep you from living life at your healthiest—from Christmas to the busyness of everyday life, excuses are endless.  Transform your lifestyle by making health a priority in your life.  Never push exercising to the back-burner, never discount the value of nutritional foods.  Take the time to think about what you are putting in your body.  Then, make time to burn off calories and keep your muscles toned.

It sounds easier than it is, I know.  But as time continues, as it always does, and you make lifestyle changes, those changes will become second nature.  Enjoy this Christmas season without the looming threat of gaining weight.  Stay focused on your goals and resist temptations by bringing alternatives.

Incredible Abdominal Exercises for a Toned Silhouette

Woman across the country are looking for ways to lose weight and tone up before summer sets in.  Great news, ladies!  If you’re looking for killer abs that make men blush, keep reading.  From basic plank to lunges, your body will get the best workout, all in the comfort of your home.

This summer won’t be filled with cover-ups.  No, you’ll be sporting your bikini every chance you get.  Get ready for an intense workout that will leave your body sore and ready for more.

There are eight basic moves that will give you a complete abdominal workout.  Begin with a basic plank.  This is the first exercise of four.  After three weeks, you will be ready to complete the last four exercises.

Hold plank for at least 30 seconds, but try to keep the position for as long as your body can bear.  Once you complete the first exercise, rest for 30 seconds.  Then, move on to side plank.  Again, you’ll follow the same timing for plank, rest, and then move the your other side.

After side plank, rest for 30 seconds and begin the third exercise-glute bridge march.  This exercise works out your abdominal muscles and your buttocks.  And finally, move to the fourth exercise, a lunge with rotation.

Once you’ve completed the circuit, which is comprised of the four exercises with five repetitions of each exercise, rest for one minute, and begin again.  Do at least three sets of each exercise.

As your progress, make sure to intensify your workout.  That means, for week two, hold plank for at least one minute and up your repetitions to six.

For all of your exercises, you want to train on three non-consecutive days.  This will allow for the breakdown and rebuild of your muscles to the fullest extent.  It’s important that you complete each exercise with precision.  If you train improperly, you can do much more damage than good.

The next four exercises can begin on week four.  Begin with plank with an arm lift.  This exercise will not only intensity the ab workout, but will also test your balance.  Tune in to your workout and avoid distractions.

Rest for 30 seconds in between exercises.  The second exercise in this circuit is side plank with a rotation.  Again, this requires balance and focus.  Next, move on to the hip and thigh raise.  This exercise requires you to alternate legs, meaning double the workout.

Finally, end with a reverse lunge with a single-arm press.  Again, this exercise requires alternating arms.  As you progress through each week, increase your maximum effort and your repetitions.  At week six, you should be at 90 seconds for your maximum effort and completing at least 10 repetitions.

These exercises are designed to build endurance and give you tight abdominal muscles.  When you’re finished, you’ll be begging for a bikini.  Enjoy your workout, focus on the positions you need to hit, and make sure you rest in between.  In six weeks, you’ll love your body.
